Ella van Poucke wins dutch Elisabeth Everts Prize

The Elisabeth Everts Prize Foundation has awarded the the Elisabeth Everts Fund prize (an amount of € 7,000 ) to the cellist Ella van Poucke (Amsterdam, 1994). The prize will be awarded on December 21st in the radioshow Spiegelzaal (10:00 o’clock, live from the Concertgebouw).

The Elisabeth Everts Prize is awarded once every two years and is intended for young Dutch musicians of exceptional talent who are standing at the beginning of a promising career. This description is eminently applicable to Ella van Poucke .

In particular, the intensity of her playing, her beautiful tone and flawless technique make her a musical personality of exceptional class, according to a quote from the jury .

Ella van Poucke studied in The Hague and Amsterdam. In 2008 she won the Princess Christina Competition and in 2010 she won the prize for the most promising talent at the National Cello Competition in Amsterdam. In 2013 she had her own ” carte blanche ” series at the Concertgebouw. Meanwhile, she also played in all the major concert halls of Europe and the US.

Previous winners of the prize, which is awarded since 1949, include Ronald Brautigam , Pieter Wispelwey , Micha Hamel, Ralph van Raat, Cora Burggraaf and, in 2012, Remy van Kesteren.
